image131 - WORLD WAR II BRITISH TERRITORIAL FORCE & 1st ARMY GROUP OF SIX TO CPL. A. WATTERS R.E.M.E

Price: $375.00

This is an extremely fine British World War II mounted medal group of six named to 899038 Corp. A. Watters, R.E.M.E. (Royal Electronic and Maintenance Engineers). The group consists of The 1939-1945 Star, The Africa Star with 1st Army bar, The Italy Star, The Defense Medal, The 1939-1945 War Medal and the 1st type GVI Territorial Efficiency Medal. All the stars are named to Corp. A. Watters, R.E.M.E. and are on their original ribbons as mounted. The entire group is in excellent condition and quite attractive. Attached to this group when purchased is a tag that reads, “This man was the chap who was murdered by Sgt. Emmett-Dunne in BAOR”. This group may possibly have belonged to the Corporal Watters, R.E.M.E. who was stationed in Germany after World War II, married a German woman and was later murdered by his wife’s lover, Sgt Frederick Emmett-Dunne, REME. The murderer was a fellow soldier and friend of Corporal Watters who killed Watters and hung his body in the barracks making it appear as a suicide. The killer was acquitted of any wrongdoing but when he later married the widow of Corp. Watters the case was re opened and the killer was convicted of the murder. More on this story can be found on the Internet at: http://members.optusnet.com.au/~redcap70/Sgt.Emmett-Dunne.BAOR.htm. An unfitting end to gallant British soldier.

image132 - WORLD WAR I FRENCH CROIX de GUERRE & MEDAILLE MILITARE MEDAL GROUP – BOTH WITH MINI FOURAGERRES!

Price: $350.00

This is a wonderful pair of World War I French gallantry medals that consist of the French Croix de Guerre with palm and the Medaille Militare that came together as a pair and are complete with not only their original ball end suspender bars but also with mini fouragerres. The Croix de Guerre is dated on the reverse “1914 – 1918” and has one bronze palm attached to the ribbon. Affixed to the ends of the ball suspender is an absolutely gorgeous mini fouragerre in the colors of the Croix de Guerre. The Medaille Militare is in excellent condition but is missing a small bit of the blue enamel but nothing overly distracting. Attached to the ends of suspender bar is an outstanding mini fouragerre in the colors of the Medaille Militare. Both medals are suspended from their original ribbons. These are a very attractive pair of medals that have been together for a long time and are very rare in this configuration with their respective mini fouragerres. Extremely fine!
