image031 - WORLD WAR I U.S. MARINE CORPS OFFICER’S OVERSEAS HAT WITH INSIGNIA – RED PIPED & EXQUISITE

Price: $525.00

Here we have a simply magnificent First World War U.S. Marine Corps officer’s red piped overseas hat with all original insignia. The hat is constructed of a fine officer’s grade dark brown wool and piped in red. There are two very minor and completely insignificant moth nips at the back of the hat that do not distract from this piece in any way. There is a beautiful pin back First World War Marine Corps officer’s Eagle, Globe and Anchor device pinned to the left side of the front part of the hat. This insignia is constructed of bronze and wonderfully age toned. The pin assembly has the open catch and is correct for the World War I worn pieces. Pinned to the right side of the hat is a gorgeous set of silver false embroidered Captain’s bars. These bars are also beautifully age toned and with a wonderful mellow age patina. The interior is lined in gray silk and complete with a leather sweatband that is 100% intact. This is as fine a looking example of a First World War Marine Corps officer’s overseas cap as you could ever hope to find and if you were to have only one this would be the one to have. Superb!
