Price: $125.00

Here we have a really nice First World War Model 1910 field pack that is complete with the lower pack carrier. The pack is complete with all its straps and hardware and exhibits signs of very light soiling from actual field use. There is no corrosion to the metal fittings and no fraying to the canvas. The pack is lightly marked with the manufacturer’s name and date, “Long – 11-18”. The outer flaps of both the pack and the carrier are boldly marked with, “U.S’. This pack exhibits very nice color and the webbing is strong and solid all the way around. A fine example of an essential piece of U.S. Doughboy field gear in fine condition.

image727 - U.S. PRE -WORLD WAR I MODEL 1903 MOUNTED ENTRENCHING TOOL & CARRIER – DATED 1908 & REGIMENTALLY MARKED!

Price: $135.00

Here we have a very nice pre First World War U.S. Model 1903 entrenching tool with regimentally marked carrier in very good field used condition. The metal spade retains 95% of the original black painted finish and the original handle retaining pin and chain. The heavy canvas cover is marked at the top with “105”, crosses rifles and “L” for Company “L” 105th Infantry Regiment. The “U.S.” has been stenciled over with the letters “NY” below which is “Squad 12” and the inked number “25”. The leather retaining strap is in very good condition with some flaking of the original finish but still strong and supple. It is nicely marked, “R.I.A. 1908”. There were no wooden handles on this model entrenching tool. A metal picket pin with a hole for the retaining pin attached to the chain of the spade served as a handle and was carried in a special leather scabbard for the Model 1892 Krag rifle bayonet. This example remains in excellent condition and is a rather scarce model entrenching tool that is seldom encountered.

Printed on the interior of the lid is, “Medallic Art Co. – New York”. Accompanying this cross is a certified copy of the Overseas Application to the United Daughters of the Confederacy for the Cross of Service. It is submitted by the Dodson Ramseur Chapter #214 in the City of Concord, North Carolina and petitions that William H. Bingham be awarded the cross for his honorable service during the World War. It state that his lineage is to Alexander Foil – Grandfather who was in the Confederate Home Guard for the entire duration of the Civil War. There is also a lot of personal information on William Bingham and his service during World War I included on the application. The number of the cross also appears in the upper left hand corner of the application.
